Hanford Health Information Archives-Gonzago University
Through voluntary contributions of personal records and health information, the Archives documents the experiences of people who were or may have been exposed to radiation released from the Hanford Site between 1944 to 1972. The Archives site includes a catalog of materials contributed and a searchable database of health conditions reported to the Archives. Note: The Archives catalog is also available to libraries across the country on OCLC, a library database.
Hanford Thyroid Disease Study (HTDS)-Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center
The Hanford Thyroid Disease Study was conducted by the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Wash. The primary purpose of this epidemiological study was to investigate whether thyroid disease is increased among persons exposed to atmospheric releases of radioactive materials from the Hanford Nuclear Facility between 1944 and 1957. The HTDS draft final report was released to the public on January 28, 1999. The complete text of the draft final report and summary materials are available at this site.
Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board (NPAIHB)
The NPAIHB is a nonprofit tribal advisory organization which represents the tribes of Washington, Oregon and Idaho on health-related matters. This site provides information about the different projects and activities of the NPAIHB including the Hanford Tribal Service Program.

American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists
The AACE is a professional organization of practicing endocrinologists whose mission is to improve the public's understanding and heighten awareness of endocrine diseases. This site includes instructions for the "Thyroid Neck Check" a self-examination to identify a potential thyroid problem. American Cancer Society (ACS)
The ACS provides education and research in cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment. The ACS offers cancer information for patients, their families and the latest research news. This site also includes cancer statistics, information on alternative and complementary therapies and other Internet resources.
American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR)
The AICR is a nonprofit organization focusing on the relationship between diet, nutrition and cancer. You can learn of the different education and research programs AICR has available, order free publications, access a nutrition hotline and obtain recipes for healthy cooking.
Cancer Care, Inc.
Cancer Care provides assistance to people with any type of cancer, at any stage of illness. All of Cancer Care’s services are free. Cancer Care offers counseling and emotional support including online support groups, information about cancer and treatment, referrals to other support services, educational seminars, conferences and materials.
Cancer Information Service
The Cancer Information Service is a nationwide network of 19 regional offices supported by the National Cancer Institute, the federal government’s primary agency for cancer research. Learn how to contact the office nearest you. In addition, you will be able to search the CancerNet Database.
Leukemia Society of America (LSA)
A national voluntary health organization dedicated to curing leukemia and its related cancers. At this site you can locate the nearest chapter of the Leukemia Society of America. The LSA also offers free publications and videos.
Lupus Foundation of America (LFA)
The LFA provides supportive services to individuals living with lupus, educates the public about lupus, and supports research into the cause and cure. The LFA Web site offers many online resources, including a Health Forum where you can post messages and questions for others.
National Brain Tumor Foundation
The National Brain Tumor Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the elimination of brain tumors through research and patient-education services. This Web site will help answer questions about brain tumor diagnosis and treatment options, and offers survivors' own personal stories.
National Health Information Center
Health information referral service providing toll-free numbers of organizations that provide health-related information. The Health Information Resource Database includes over 1,100 organizations and government offices that provide health information upon request.
National Multiple Sclerosis Society
This organization provides services for people with multiple sclerosis (MS) and related diseases. At this site you will learn about local resources and how to get involved with the MS Society. You will also read about the latest research and how to receive their newsletter.
National Organization of Rare Disorders (NORD)
The National Organization of Rare Disorders is a unique federation of more than 140 nonprofit, volunteer health organizations serving people with rare disorders. Here you will find two online newsletters, the NORD Database, and other programs and services.
Thyroid Foundation of America (TFA)
The TFA provides health education and support for thyroid patients and the health care professionals who care for them. This Web site includes the TFA’s newsletter and brochures, as well as links to other thyroid-related Web sites.
The Thyroid Society
The Thyroid Society for Education and Research is a national, nonprofit organization whose mission is to pursue the prevention, treatment and cure of thyroid disease. This Web site offers a wide variety of information and publications, in addition to answers to frequently asked questions.
GOVERNMENT SITES
Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR)
ATSDR is a federal public health agency whose mission is to prevent or mitigate adverse human health effects and diminished quality of life resulting from exposure to hazardous substances in the environment. Although this site is very technical, there are several databases on which you can perform searches.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is an agency of the Department of Health and Human Services. The CDC provides health information, online publications, data and statistics, as well as online searches.
Comprehensive Epidemiologic Data Resources (CEDR)
CEDR was developed by the U.S. Department of Energy (USDOE) to provide public access to health and exposure data concerning workers at USDOE installations. You can access descriptions of the data sets and studies, and technical articles reporting study results.
Department of Energy: Office of Human Radiation Experiments (OHRE)
The OHRE tells the story of radiation research that used human subjects. At this site you can access declassified documents, historical photographs, reports and press releases. In addition, the Human Radiation Experiment Archives are available for research.
Hanford Individual Dose Assessment (IDA) Project
Sponsored by the state health agencies of Washington, Oregon and Idaho and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Hanford IDA Project provides individual dose esimates from Iodine-131 for people who lived or spent time in the Hanford Environmental Dose Reconstruction (HEDR) study area between December 26, 1944 and December 31, 1957. Here you will be able to learn about the Project, view a map of the HEDR study area and obtain the necessary forms to begin the process of receiving your individual dose estimate.

National Cancer Institute
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is the largest of 17 biomedical research institutes and centers that make up the National Institutes of Health. You will be able to view the results of a study to estimate thyroid doses of iodine-131 received by individuals from fallout of the Nevada atmospheric nuclear bombs and determine your own thyroid dose calculation from Nevada Test Site exposure. To access this information, click on the button that reads "About Radiation Fallout" at the bottom left of the screen.
National Institutes of Health (NIH)
Comprised of 24 separate Institutes, Centers, and Divisions, the NIH is one of eight health agencies of the Public Health Service which is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The NIH Web site offers a wide range of information including publications, health hotlines and other resources including free access to MEDLINE. The Web site is also available in Spanish.
U.S. Department of Energy - Hanford Health Studies
The USDOE's Richland Operations Office provides this site on the World Wide Web with information about recent Hanford-related health studies, especially those related to worker safety and health.

National Association of Atomic Veterans (NAAV)
NAAV assists veterans of U.S. nuclear weapons testing and other radiation-risk activities.
